Who’s Behind Black Art: Docuseries

A Celebration of Creativity, Culture, & Community!

This series is a testament to the resilience, creativity, and unyielding spirit of Black artists who are redefining what it means to create and inspire.

Why WBBA Matters

  1. A Platform for Emerging Black Artists
In an industry where Black artists often struggle for visibility and institutional support, Who’s Behind Black Art provides a vital platform to showcase talent and celebrate artistic innovation.

The series highlights how these artists are not just creating beautiful pieces, but also pushing boundaries, addressing social issues, and reclaiming Black narratives in the art world.

  1. Cultural Relevance & Timeliness
From the Harlem Renaissance to the Black Lives Matter movement, art has always been at the heart of Black resistance and cultural expression. WBBA continues this legacy by exploring the modern landscape of Black creativity, touching on themes such as:

The impact of social media on Black artists’ careers
The intersection of art and activism.

The preservation of Black art in a rapidly evolving digital world.

The challenges and opportunities Black artists face in today’s art market

  1. A Star-Studded Conversation
Beyond the featured artists, WBBA fosters critical dialogue with some of the biggest names in art and culture. The roundtable discussion in Episode 3 brings together:

Derrick Adams (Multidisciplinary Artist)
Everette Taylor (CEO of Kickstarter, CMO Artsy)
Elliot Perry (NBA Star & Art Collector)
Larry Ossei-Mensah (ArtNoir Co-Founder)
Cierra Britton (Cierra Britton Gallery Founder)

Together, they unpack the evolution of Black art, the future of diversity in galleries and museums, and the importance of creating spaces for Black artists.

The Power of Art as a Cultural Force

WBBA is more than a documentary series—it is a call to action. It invites audiences to engage with Black art as a living, breathing cultural force. It challenges viewers to recognize that Black art is not just about representation but also about ownership, preservation, and innovation.

By premiering on AspireTV and across streaming platforms, Who’s Behind Black Art ensures that this movement reaches a broad audience, making Black art accessible, appreciated, and celebrated beyond the confines of museums and elite galleries.
